I had a look-see at an old New Holland baler today. The tag said S 68. I assume this is a super 68.

My question is - what are the differences between the 68 and S68?

The only concern I have with this baler is that the rear panel where the fingers are located was removed. How many fingers should be there? Are these still available (and how much), should one of them have been removed for someone elses spare? How about knives, needles, knotters etc.

Price is $500.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

only real difference in my 68 and my S68 is that the Super has a rope you pull tight and it will lift the pickup,,,Jim

Bill, the differences are not enough to talk about. They do not use a wad board. They do use 4 alumiumn feeder forks plus one set of steel forks all the way to the right side of feeder bar. These parts are still available. Knives, needles, and knotters are identical. Plunger, feeder, pickup, and almost everything else is the same and interchangable. $500 in my area is about $450 too high. Steve

One other question. I could have swore I saw aluminium fingers on the S68. Did the 68 & super 68 have a wadboard?

Thanks in advance,
Bill
