Anyone ever hear of the "Vulcan Plow Company"? I was cleaning up a junk pile and found what appears to be a walk behind 1 bottom plow. The woods long gone, but all the metal is there. Plow share looks like new.

I saw in your re-post that you mentioned the Heilman Plow Company. I have a set of tractor drawn trip plows that have the following numbers on them:

1. HTP 17A on the furrow wheel arm.
2. HTP 140A on the axle brace.
3. HTP 8 on the rope operated trip lever.
4. HTP 237 on the colter arms.
5. F&H N311B is on each of the wheel caps.

These plows are steel wheeled plows. The furrow wheel is smooth while the one with the trip lever is knobbed. I have nothing stamped into the rails that would indicated what company made these plows. I have had one person tell me that I have a set of Heilman Terran Pareel(HTP)plows. Does that name ring a bell to you? Is there anyway you can help me identify my plows? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

From Rathbone's Book-- In 1898 The heilman Plow Co of Evansville Ind. changed its name to Vulcan Plow Co. In 1931 merged to Farm Tools Inc. of Mansfield Ohio. No records after 1952 in Ind.

Their old plow wrenches are collectable. I have one or two.

I am restoring a Vulcan plow NO. 13R, dated 1897. Upon disassembly, I found the original color to be yellow. JD yellow is closest. Where was the Vulcan Plow Co. before 1898?
