Can the hay pickup apparatus(auger etc.)be replaced with parts from the older 14 T Baler? Someone out there must still be using one of these old balers. Thanks.

Dan, you shouldn't have any trouble useing the feed auger assembly from a 14T on a 24T or the other way around.they are driven by the same shaft. as for the model numbers the 214 and the 224 were heavy duty models I have 3 14Ts and a 214T.
the 214 has a 16" wheel on the flywheel side and the flywheel weights a good bit more too.knotter frames won't interchange between the 24 series and the 14s because of the needle lift drive assy. Tom in N.E.Ga.

The 14T isn't really older than the 24T, both were made at the same time. Then JD moved to the 214T and 224T, again at about the same time. I have a 214T baler that I use and a 14T I use for parts, they are nearly identical. But I have a friend with a 24T and he needed a part so he came to look at my 14T and they were vastly different. We never compared pickup heads, but the 24T is higher capacity than a 14T so the head may be wider?

There's likely lots of us. Hey, "Nothing runs ..."
I don't know as I've no way of comparing the two. Try doing a search on "JD 14 or JD 24" on the home page of YT and see what u get. A dealer might be able to cross reference part numbers for u. Good luck with it.
