Is it possible to drill a shallow well with an PTO driven Auger. (Possibly by adding Extensions) Looking for Ideas/hints...

Maybe..... .. If you measured how much lift you have with the 3 pt. Ive seen 2' extensions for augers. Maybe... drill down, bring dirt up, drill down again,detach auger bit, add extension, drill down again, pull dirt up, detach extension, attach bit,bring rest of dirt up, drill down again add 2 extensions, keep going. Maybe find some pipe the same dia. as your auger, drill for bolt holes in pipe-make yer own extensions to match your 3 pt lift. letme know if it works...

Our well is 235 feet deep, so that would be a lot of auger!!!!!

If you can hit water with a shallow well where you are, like 50 feet or less, how do you get the dirt out of the hole with a 3-point? The tractor will only lift 4-5 feet of auger up.

Probably not. You are limited by the amount of lift in the 3 point.

It kind of depends where you live. In the Platte valley one afternoon about 4 o'cock I started digging with the hand post hole diggers while the owner went to town fo 5 inch casing. dug down to water then used a sand bucket to finish and by 6 o'clock had a 20 foot well and all the water we wanted. this was for livestock and we used an electric pump jack to bring the water to the top.
