Does anyone know a good source to purchase Woods finish mower belts other than a dealer? I need a B150 Kelvlar belt. I have found standard belts such as Gates Hy power do not last very long for a mower. Thanks for your help.

You might try one of these stores

(you would have to call the order in). They have a web site but it is more for just information. I know some of the guys at the home store (in Robinson) and they are real helpful. I have bought many belts there for a long time and seldom find them cheaper, anywhere (my guess is that a B150-Gates (5/8" X 150") will run about $18 to $25 plus shipping)! I like the "Gates" belt over about any equipment manufacturer's belt. I use them on all my grain elevator/grain bin motors and on all my mowers. Very heavy duty!

My guess is that there is something else wrong with your mower application. I run an industrial Woods mower deck (belly mower) on my IH 284 and really heavy grass will slip the drive belt (if the grass piles up under the mower) but I have yet to destroy the belt.

Check out your tensioner, pulleys and alignment!

Most automotive and farm stores carry belts. The better auto stores usually carry Gates.

Check your pulleys for excess wear, and good allignment. Make sure the belt is tight and stays tight. Make sure there isn't grass buildup holding the tensioner from keeping it tight. If it is a manual tensioner, Check it every hour or two until the belt finishes stretching (broke in).

I've had better luck with the gates than woods.
