8n front hydraulic pump questions

I have the wagner loader and it works great, other than being very big and heavy.
My problem is that I disconnected the hydraulic bucket cylinder and mounted it into a log splitter.
The splitter moves back and forth nicely, but does not have the power to split any wood. I need suggestions as to where to start, as I will fix this problem. I believe this old wagner w4 pump may not have the volume or the pressure that I am going to need. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
