I just got a Cunningham hay crimper and want to find a manual for it. I also need help on how to use it. I cut down some grass hay to try it on and had a lot of trouble with hay wrapping around the bottom roller. Any help or places to find out how to use it would be appreciated? I got it to use next year on my alfalfa and clover hay. I only have 15 acres to do so I didn't think a haybind would pay. Thanks Jeff

I have a Cunningham crimper that I picked up this spring at a sale, after looking for one for 2 years, I havent used it yet but I have given it a good going over, I am fitting my old McCormick sickle mower with a rear pto drive on it to power the crimper behind the mower. I found a manual on Ebay after looking for at least a year at swap meets and on the internet. The old man told me to crimp as soon as possible while the hay is still crisp, before it wilts or it will wrap around the reel. I don't have acess to a copier right now but should again in a few weeks. T.J.

I got a Cunningham early this spring and had a lot of trouble with hay wrapping at first, too. I replaced the springs on the scraper that keeps the upper roller clean and that helped. Folks here on the board said to crimp as soon as I got off the mower, and that helped. Finally, I think just using it and getting the roughness and rust off of the rollers helped a lot. Bottom line, I haven't had any trouble with that for awhile.

I like the crimper a lot but have small acres too and doesn't make sense for me to buy a moco. I paid $10 for the crimper and maybe another $10 on springs and bolts and it does just fine.

As far as a manual goes, I wish I could help and I ask if you find one to let me know, too. I searched ebay and the web and posted here repeatedly but either nobody has one or nobody that has one saw my plea! Good luck.
