Thanks to everyone who replied to my knotter crisis the other day. Got the 214T going last night, it was that one little thing JD left out of the manual that had me stumped!

Anyway, just for the heck of it I priced a knotter for the 214T and JD wanted over $600!!!! I could buy a whole new (used) baler for that price. Guess they are working on a margin rather than volume deal there.

No surprise to me. I just priced a pitman arm for the knife drive on a 55 Square Back. A single piece that has a bearing, two feet of steel tubing, a tie rod end and fabricating - over $400.00 (Cdn) and no return! No wonder they can afford to build the long green line!! Gotta love 'em. They have and do make some of the best equipment but more than that they sure chose the appropriate color to paint it. Some might say it should be gold but then I'm grateful to have some of that green paint ( albeit somewhat faded!) in my yard. Keep on farming-there's a lot worse things you and I could be toiling at.
