Bush Hog problems

Hey all,
My neighbor brought his Bush Hog Rotary mower over for me to look at, it seems to have a problem. It has two sets of blades on it, and inbetween the gearboxes on the short powershafts there is some kind of slipclutch(?), you really can't tell what it is but it is about 3 inches in diameter and is two piece apparently as the one on the right side slips no matter what and the blades are out of time this way and they hit. Can anyone tell me exactly what these are and I know I will have to remove at least one gearbox to get the shaft off, but does anyone have any tips or tricks? Thank you for any help!

Don't feel like the long ranger !

Jumped timing on bush hog.

Our 10 ft did the same thing today. I am going to have to reset it. From what I figure I have 3 options.

1. Remove the collar that attaches to the gearbox spindle and rotate it to set the timing 90 degrees off. When one set of blades is facing side ways under the mower, the other should be facing front to rear.

2. Remove the stump jumper housing and see if I can rotate the blade.

3. Open one of the side gearboxes by removing the cover from where the spine goes into the gearbox and move it away from the teeth on the gear and reset the timing. Sounds like the most trouble.

If any one reads this and has a better procedure , I would appreciate your comments. Also if you would, please email me as I dont check this site every day.

Thanks
Cliff
