walk behind plow

i have a single beam john deere horse drawn plow and would like to find info on it. it has john deere stamped on the back of the beam and after it the # 376. what does this mean??

Dan, The #376 is the beam number and means your plow is one of the following models: MP12, MP13, MP14, BR114, or GP32. These were common plows the difference being the type of bottom attached. They were made from the early teens up into the 40's depending on which you have.

Daniel, I don't have a lot of info on horse plows, it looks like there were few changes over the years so it pretty hard to determine a build date. I like to pick somebodies birthday in the appropriate time period and say it was built on Dad's or Grandpa's or whoevers birthday. Nobody will be able to dispute it. The moldboard number you have is just that, but also indicates possible plow model number, in this case it could be an MP 14 with the beam you have.
