Howdy,

Can anyone out there with a John Deere #5 mower parts manual please check to see if the pitman # of Z 9298 was a sub to or from a different number?

Thanks much,

My book also says Z8745. I have an extra original operator's manual for the JD #5 Caster-wheel power mower for sale for $10 plus shipping. It is in pretty good condition, complete, the cover is loose from the rest, it shows a little sign of having been in high humidity as the pages are very slightly wrinkled, but not stuck together. It is very clean except for some light soiling on the cover. Very useable. I also have a parts #5 which has many useful parts left that I have for sale. Thanks.

David,

Thanks for the offer but I'm starting up a small pitman business on the side and someone asked me if there was a sub number.

Just out of curiosity, I went out to my shed to check the number on a new pitman stick I have and it is stamped Z9298, so there must have been a sub number sometime. Best way to verify would be with your JD dealer. Good luck.

David,

I went to the Deere website and punched in that part number and it comes back as an invalid part number. That is why we thought there may of been a newer sub for it.

I like that mark-up that Deere has. For their 8W and 9W mower pitman they are asking $25.74. I'm only asking $12.95 plus shipping. I wonder if I painted mine JD green if I could get the same money as they get. :-)
