Does any company make a 7' pull behind discmower
with either rollers or fingers for conditioning.
All I ever see is 9' and larger or the 3pt type.
My gates and roadways on the farm are too narrow
for anything bigger then 7' and I'd like to move
to a disc mower instead of a haybine. Thanks.

Vicon made a 7ft 10in KM 240 mower conditioner, I have one that is 19 years old, has been an excellent machine and tough! These machines had drive shaft problems, big time!! I solved this myself, put an 80 degree on her ($750.00) My cutter bar has only been open 2 times, last time I replaced all bearings and seals, Gears are still original. I like the 3 blade system also. You should be able to buy one of these machines cheap, because of the driveshaft problem. Also parts are still available.

Why trailed? is there any reason that you do not like 3 point mounted disc mower/conditioners?

Thanks! Finger conditioners are so unpopular locally (alfalfa) that I don't even know how they work, but never knew roll or finger machines were made in a 3-point version like that. Very interesting.

Kuhn have an excellent reputation over here. They make mowers for John Deere too. Alfalfa is unknown over here, roller type conditioners are also extremely rare. I understand that finger type conditioners are no good for alfalfa as they knock the leaves off.

Have you looked a Reese? They have a 8' disk. If intrestead, they do have a 6'9" Drum mower. Bit pricey though.

some 9'ers have a pivoting tongue, my deere folds narrower than buddies 7' NH sickle machine. also I don't get the poor mouthing flails in 'falfa. you mow it GREEN and damp. I guess it makes sense if youre in Arizona on irrigatted ground & 5%humidity but east of central Ok & Ka you never have to replace a set of conditioning rolls again.
