After doing a few fields of hay. I am not real happy with how the knifes are working. I seem to get some ragged cuts and I think the baler is working harder than it should.I am not worried about the knife on the plunger I got that one good and sharp. The one on the chamber though I am not sure of though.
Is it suppose to be a sharp edge like on the plunger? I looked at my parts machine and they look the same. Here is a photo I took when I reinstalled the plunger. You can see the knife on the chamber.

My 320 NH has two blades one on the plunger and one on the chamber, but like the other guys have said I think yours only has one blade. It is important to keep the blades sharp and the chamber side square to keep from having ragged bales. I just replaced the knives on mine last year and man what a difference.

I have enjoyed watching you fix that baler up, keep up the good work and keep us informed on the 300.

Here is a picture of my baling rig for your viewing pleasure.

Kelly, I have a 69 super-liner, it may be diff. that your 68. but on my 69 the only knife is on the plunger. the plate on the side of the chamber is stamped steel about 3/8 thick, and square edged. also on the 69 you adjust the knife clearance by adjusting the plunger slide on the left side, top and bottom. book calls for 1/32 clearance. hope this helps.

should be a sqare edge on the ledger plate. Also the clearence beween the two is adjustable with shims behind the knife.

Ok thanks. I will take that out and get that edge square, its pretty rounded right now.
I looked in my manual and it shows a knife there.
Thats what got me screwed up.
On my 268 it has a knife on the chamber.

It is like a guillotine, a sharp knife working against a plate that is ground 'square'.

i sharpen both of my balers knives atleast once a season, and also shim to .010" clearance. sometimes it is neccesary to adjust outer rail that the outer plunger roller rides on , to even out top and bottom clearance. razor sharp knives help make a superior clean rectangular bale. saves on shear bolts and helps the whole baler operate more smoothly.
