Every year I plant about 5 acres of clover and corn for wildlife on my land in Wisconsin. This year I thought I had enough clover for the 5 acres, but came up about 2 acres short. The reason I wasn't going to plant corn is because the corn planter that I normally borrow from my father was cut up for scrap last fall. Well, I had seed corn left over from last year so I threw it out by hand around these few acres and covered it by dragging the field. Is anything going to grow, or did I waste my time?

What you describe is more or less how people planted before there was "scientific" farming (rows, grids, controlled planting depth)or mechanical planters.

Give it about ten days, then we'll know. If it gets moisture and the crows don't eat it all, it should come up.
