Baler knotter update

Well, I tried out my "rebuilt" left knotter versus the untouched right knotter last night.

When I turn the machine by hand, both knotters seem to be exactly the same...no visible difference at any point during the knotting process. But the rebuilt knotter makes a perfect knot, and the old right knotter makes one that hangs on the hook.

But when I start the baler engine and run the baler at normal speed the results are reversed: the right knotter made 4 perfect knots on real bales while my rebuild formed 4 knots that did not release and (new problem) one side of the twine breaks just at the knot...this is the piece that goes back over top of the bale and down and below.

So I think maybe I'm getting a little closer, but still not there.

Any ideas now?

thanks,
Tom

the problem with the twine braking at the knot could be the twine holder to tight it needs to let twine slip just a little as knot is formed so string can go around with bill hook
