Does someone know what years the NH450 mower was built; when the changeover to NH451? What were the major differences?

Dave, TN dealer is basicly correct on the length of the bar, but early 451 mowers were the same length as the 450. 450 and early 451 knife assemblies were 28 sections long. later 451's were 29 sections long. The 450 came out in the mid 1950's and the 451 came out in the mid 1960's and New Holland has not changed model numbers since. The real main difference between the two is the bearing setup in the pitman unit. The 450 used needle bearings and the 451 uses tapered roller bearings. 450 pitmans are easier to work on, but then again, you will probably need to work on them more often. However, the 451 pitman unit is NOT failure proof either. Steve
