I just picked up a NH 1034 bale wagon. I am trying to figure out if I have the retrieving Option on this bale wagon. I have rised the second table slightly and pushed the level forward, but the rolling rack will not move to the rear. If anyone can tell me where to look and determine if I have this option it would really be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Sam

With respect, I disagree with the other post, you can retrieve stacks with a 1034. It takes an add on cable set. Look on the load rack main cylinder, it should have 2 cables on it. If it only has one then you are not set to retrieve. If you do have the small cable there is an R pin in the rolling rack linkage that you remove to allow you to pull the rolling rack handle all the way forward (toward the tractor). This will then reverse the load rack cylinder and move the rolling rack to the rear. BE CAREFUL, if this cable is too short you will bend the rod in the rolling rack cylinder when extending (trust me, I bought 3 of those $375 rods, before I learned).

To retrieve, move rolling rack to rear. Back under stack. There is a winch and cable set up that goes over the top rear of the stack to hold it down, lower load rack.

I pull mine with 60-90 hp tractors. 30hp will run the PTO but they are a beast to stop or to back up a grade with a load on. Always use a good clip in the hitch pin, when dropping a load they get negative tongue weight, will shoot a hitch pin right at you and leave you in a mess (another trust me :-) Best of luck.

In order to retrieve a stack of bales you need to raise the rack up to vertical position and the forks or rolling rack should drop. The only controle you have on the rolling rack is forward for single unloading. If you have a cross conveyor chain you can unload single bales on to an elevator. You need to raise the bale holders at the top out of the way and raise your 2nd table up to 45% and your rack should move forward and place 15 bales on the 2nd table. The hydraulics on these machines are very sensitive and you have to have all levers in the proper position to get some of them to work.
You shoud have at least a 4 plow tractor with a heavy draw bar to handle this machine. They are very heavy on the tongue.
Operators and parts & service manuals are available from NH. They explain the various operations of these machines.
