I had about 100 stumps 4 to 8 inches in diameter in what will be my dog training field. I bought a middle-buster and
mounted a cultivator sweep on it, and turned it around. With a 12-inch cultivator sweep I can dig about 10 stumps
per hour by backing up to the stump and digging the roots out and lifting the stump out with the hydraulics. I rarely
use the chain at all. I have broken quite a few bolts, though.

I have about 40 stumps to go. Anybody got any comments or ideas to add?

Sounds like your doing ok. Unless I want to cultivate the land I usually just cut the stumps
flush with the ground (as close as I can get without getting dirt on the chainsaw chain) and
let nature take care of the rest.
