Thomas, 15 yrs ago the folk I farmed with got a 6row/40s Ferguson Tilrovator It was a massive piece of equipment. It would give a JD 4640 all she wanted to handle. It really needed lift assist wheels. We used it to incorparate our chemicals on corn ground. We were clean plowing/ full irrigation / row water on 40s. this thing would hide a multitude of sins, especially if you hadn't plowed enough, it would take cloddy ground and give you a perfect seed bed. Enough said,but, it was too slow. We were trying to get 80acres planted /day. That is going fron plowed flat groung Then Listing with a 7bottom bedder on one tractor. Then Running the tilrovator& incorirating the chemical. Then Planting with the last tractor. The listing and planting tractors were running @ an ave of 2mph faster than the tilrovator could . It was good but too slow for our opperation after 4 corn seasons we sold it.
The tag to the best of my memoryis somewhere near the center gearbox. First time I ever saw one was at the Ft. Worth implement show in spring of 1980.
This is probably not much help. Sorry to be so long winded on it. All in all it was a good piece of equipment. We had no real breakdowns on it. OBTW learning to lift it out of the ground at the end of the feild so there isn't a hole 1ft accross and ?rows long will take a while to master.
