OT hauling question

Well I have a 2000 Ford F350 with V10 and four speed automatic, 3.73 rear end. I will be using it to haul my WD9. But my question is what if I am pulling an EMPTY six by sixteen foot, tandem axle, bumper hitch stock trailer (sorry, don't know trailer weight) across Wisconsin and Minnesota, should I still turn Overdrive off?

I dont know what the Ford owners manuel says for your truck but my rule of thumb is never ever use over drive when pulling anything. When over drive is on, on most transmisssions the torque converter is locked making a stationary drive member.This is great except the torque coverter is moving the oil throught the transmission cooler.

you can always run in overdrive unless it starts shifting in and out of overdrive too often -

for example if it is windy and u are running at 50 mph up and down hills on a non major highway it would probably be better to not use overdrive - just to keep it from shifting all the time -

however if u running 75 mph down a flat chunk of interstate it doesn't matter if it is empty or full - use the overdrive....
