I had to remove the chain to the knotters and moved the shaft on the sweep fingers that force the hay into the packing chamber. How do I assure the timing is set up right before reinstalling the chain? Also, does anyone have a manual for the 270 they no longer need?

Both of those chains require proper timing. It's so difficult to explain & do it right with just words - if we mis-communicate, you lose 2 needles - I don't want that on my head.

Every baler owner should have a manual - & NH is pretty good at supplying operator's manuals with very good info for not much $$$$. I think folks who buy balers should get a manual sooner, rather than later - once you need it with hay laying, kinda late.

Sorry this doesn't help you much, but hopefully others can benifit.

Paul, tks for the response, I agree, anyone with a baler or any piece of equipment he may be preforming his own maintenance on should have the techs. available. That said, I don't, and thought I would use this venue for some helpful advise. Yes, the book is on back order. For those who have used INTERTEC in Kansas City, KS for Farm manuals, they are now called PRIMEDIA. PS: Thanks Glen for your copies of the 275 specs. rec'd from my direct contact to you from one of your old postings to this site.
