What year(s) was this baler produced? Also, any tips on using it would be appreciated. I just picked one up to try my hand at haying our 11 acre field with my WD-45. (This is my first time using a baler.) Thanks in adva

John, I too have a 268. Mine was made in 1963. It is a good old baler. I too am learning how it works. I highly advise you to get a operators manual. I got mine at the local Ford New Holland dealer. It will tell you how to adjust everything. I adjusted everything as per the manual and it has worked great. I just finished up running 600 bales through it and it didn't miss a tie. Hope this helps.

John, I have the same model and am quite happy with it. To get uniform bales as with most balers its important to have large windrows. Small windrows don't allow enough hay to get to the far side of the chamber and you get a "banana" bale, tight on one side and loose on the other. I'm not sure of the vintage, ~1970 I guess. Good luck and feel free to email with specific questions.
