Pitman bearing clearance on baler?

I have an IH #27 baler that I have just bought and the local IH dealer acts like there isn't such a thing. I noticed on the front plunger pitman that it was kind of loose. I thought that there was a bearing like the main bearing on an engine in it. But, when I pulled it apart it has shims to adjust the clearance. My manual doesn't have anything about this and I'm sure the IH dealer wouldn't have a clue. They even sent me to the local hardware store for shear bolts because they didn't carry any.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob G

From the Blue Ribbon Service Manual for the 27 baler.

"shim for .012 to .015 inch clearance between the front pitman bearing and the crankpin"

Tom,

Thanks for the information. Where did you get your service manual and how much did it cost. I should pick one up so that I have it handy.

Thanks,
Bob G

I happened to spot it on ebay, forget how much I paid. It has way more information than the owner's manual. Keep my email if you need more info.
