Having trouble with my JD 346 baler breaking wire.
Seems that it is always breaking wire on one side.(same all time) Took slack out of wire knotter on that side. Seemed to be ok for about 20 bales then went bad again. Knotter messing up on both sides now. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, well here is what the baler guy at the JD dealer ship says. LOTS of oil on the wire. Wire was not feeding out of the hooks cleanly. Lots of oil seemed to help some, he also ajusted the wire hooks around another tooth. He said that with the older balers you need to have the wire hooks turn more to release wire, because of age. Or rebuild the knotter assembly. Seems to work better now. Oh he said that if it continued to go ahead and ajust the hooks another notch out to see if that helps. Thanks for all your help Ron, & Jim.

Check all wire guides for wear, as well as all guide rollers for flat-spots... You could even have a piece of wire caught in a knotter, or a coil of wire that is not feeding smoothly... We sometimes put a little oil on the coils, to lube the guides... Let us know what you find...!!

Ron.
