Got a couple of people in the area {within 5 miles} that have had hay getting rained on since the first week in June. One field of Alfalfa is about all stalks from him trying to dry it for the last two weeks, about 15 acres. The other field is Timothy been mowed for three weeks, looks like straw, about 25 acres. All of it is junk hay, not even good for mulch. I'm finished with mine, so I've got the time, but I don't want to do it on shares. What's the going rate in your area for 4x5's? I'm using a 466 John Deere and just twine tying not net.

The custom man I hire charges $1.25/foot for round baling with a variable chamber baler. 4 feet wide. A 4x5 = $6.25, owner cuts and rakes.

I just paid $14 per 4 X 5 round bale, for cutting, raking, baling. Others around here charge the same. For baling only I would think about $7 per bale would be fair.

To cut, rake, and bale 72" round bales goes for $15 to $18 per bale, with a 2 bail per acre minimum. Square bales (60-70lbs.) go for $1.00 to $1.25 each. A few will do them for 0.75 each.

_Just_ baling runs $6-9 a bale around here, depending on size & 'friends' vs 'business'.

price for baling services vary considerably even in the same local area. however i have seen balers roll 4x5's for about $12-18 per roll. of course the price would be lower if the field owner does some of the work themselves such as cutting and/or raking.

I have baled small square bales for $1.00-$1.25 a bale cut and raked. should be more, ideal would be $1.50 for cut to bale. 60 lb average to small square bales. around here, small square baling goes for $.40-$.60 a bale for baling only, 60 lb average. you can figure of weight of bales from the above information.
