Oh boy Deere1, This is the second most asked question about New Holland balers in my 26 years. The first question is; "What do I do about a knotter that doesn't work right?" And the 2nd is; "How do I get my New Holland baler to make a square bale like auger feed balers make"? Ridr's reply is certainly textbook correct. However, years and years in the field have led me to conclude that many New Holland balers, especially the older ones just cannot make square bales in certain conditions. The best answer I can give you is to make bigger windrows and drive so the pickup grabs the hay towards the inside of the pickup. This seems to do more than any adjustments you can possibly make. Steve

Hey Steve.
I noticed on my 68. The previous owner had added a 3rd set of feeder tines in the middle of the original 2 sets.
I have used it like this and it seems to work fine. My bales are nice and square, but dont know if thats why.
Have you ever heard of this before?

Yes Kelly, although not original, It is totally exceptable to add tines. Gosh, if adding 6 sets of tines will help bale shape, by all means, add them. This is possibly the 8th wonder of the world. 2 identical model balers, and one will make a great bale and the other will produce bannana shaped bales regardless of what you do. However, bannana shaped is more common for a 68 then square shaped. Steve

move the left one (standing behind baler it is closest to plunger) to the right , move the middle one to the left; move in short amounts at a time ,rotate by hand the first time around to make sure they clear.
