if you want dry, then come to waller county, texas. we missed all the rains in the area and still hunting for a good soaker. only had less than 10 inches so far this year. there are places in west texas that gets more annual rainfall than we do.

I am not haying but running a U-Pick that is nearly drowned out. I have been scrambling for over a month just trying to salvage stuff. I have approx. 6" of standing water every day at 6pm. Soon as it gets dry enough to take my backhoe in the field I am cutting a drainage ditch the entire length then dumping it out to the dirt road ditch.

I am thankful for the rain as the last 5 yrs. have been drought but the good man upstairs doesn't need to make up for it in one summer!!

Best of luck with your hay.

John, I hear you loud and clear. We are dry in NE Texas too. We had 3 rains last week the biggest was 1/4 inch. NONE in April or May. I bet we don't see another drop till Labor Day. God Bless Texas. From MS to NC they are getting washed out.

KX, That is what I'm talking about! Rain,Surplus H20,Extra heavy dew. This entire State needs rain. This was suppose to be an El Nejo year! But it is serious from the Rio Grand--some places it is't even running, all the way to Dalhart , From Longview to El Paso we are HURTING. Yea,Yea,Yea to hear the local weatherman tell it on TV we are all OK, just a little off the usual track. They are not talking to the local folks whos living is derived from what the Good Lord provides. I don't know why the Lord saw fit to let so much fall in one area and so little in others. Wouldn't mind haveing a few semi loads dropped shipped here or just about anywhere in the Lone Star.
Hope ya'll dry out in time to get your crops laid by.
Later,
John A.

You mentioned Dalhart. We've had about 4 inches in the past week. Best we've got in a long time. Weather man says there's not any more in the forecast for awhile though.

John: Now that is a novel idea, haul your hay somewhere else to dry it. To the original John,I think there is a catch, they probably want to keep it.

It always amazes me how much money mankind has been willing to spend on all kinds of silly ideas,( not talking about moving hay to dry it) why couldn't he divert the cloud cover so we all get uniform amounts of rain. Man kind will pay millions to movie stars, sports stars, etc., yet he wants farmers to produce cheap food with too little or too much rain.
