I really enjoy your posts and pictures!! I have been checking out your #5 mower pictures and noticed you had it supported up by 4 blocks instead of using the support leg, which you had up in the air. I just want to tell you that that the support leg will work very well with an H. If you need to raise it a little higher, just put a small block under it. I also noticed that you have been using the support leg to support the hoses. I found an old drawing of a #5 hooked to a JD# 50, it had a hose support as high as the top of the back of the seat probably to help with the mower going up and down and because back then cylinders were like gold and if a farmer was lucky enough to own one, he probaly used it on all of his equipment ( so his hoses were probably long to fit different equipment, the high hose holder on the #5 taking up the slack)). I know on our farm, we weren't lucky enough to own one for many years and used the lever and/or foot pedal to raise up the # 5. Again I really enjoy your posts .

Thanks John.
I am having fun with both my Farming stuff and my web site.
I figured out the leg thing last Friday. I stopped to look at restored JD That had a #5 on it. I noticed how it was attached as a leg. The previous owner of mine had some how managed to get the bar that you set it with. Stuck in the hole backwards so he could use it as a support for the hoses.
When I buy or make a hose holder. I will fix the support leg and use it as intended.
Cant do nothin right now. H is still stuck in the mud :-(
