Since the price I was quoted for one of these was the same as the weight of gold ($133), I was wondering if anyone might have one laying around they might sell at a resonable price. Is anyone making these aftermarket? Need one for my NH66. They are the ones with the 1/2 circle cut out of the mount to go around the mounting arm.
Thanks

If you happen to have 2 pieces, a good welding shop can weld them together.

I have 4 extra needles for a NH68. I am going to take them to MY welder and see if he can bring them back into shape.
The only reason I replaced them was because of a groove that the twine had worn in the eye. This groove was thinner than the twine I am using. It was binding the twine as it went through the needles.
One of the previous owners had been using thin poly twine. Not the 9000 whooper twine I like.

Ok here is a question. Why is 9000 twine thicker than 7200? I thought the number denoted the footage on the ball. Well 9000 is more than 7200. So I must be missing some thing.

I have welded the grove worn by twine on a NH 280. I used nickle rod and welded the slot closed and when it cooled I used a Dremel rotor tool with a small stone to smooth the weld and re shape the twine slot in the needle.

I think your dealer is tring to hose you.
I just purchased 2 new Nedlees for my NH 68 and it was $58 each.
Here call my dealer and get a price. He can mail it out to you. of course you pay shipping.

Post back what price they give you. Maybe your needles are made of gold. If so I wont be buying any NH66 to rebuild.
