NH 68 billhook

Does this billhook when the jaws are opened have a slight tooth towards the end? Or is it supposed to be perfectly smooth kinda like and alligator with no teeth? I have the same problem as the other guy with it not letting go of the line after tying. Thanks!

knots hanging on billhook could be due to the twine tension being too low, a rough or rusty billhook, or the 'wiper' on the knife-arm not being close enough to the back of the billhook to strip the knot off.

Here is a photo of one of my bill hooks. As you can see the brass bushing is worn. This will keep the bill hook from letting go of the knott.
Check yours.

Yes there should be a hook on the end, but everything should be as smooth as possible. Lightly file and smooth up with emory cloth. A manual has a wealth of info, if you don't have one, Get one. Well worth the $20.00 or so. See my post below for more.
