Don't forget that seed size plays a role in it also. I have a 16x7 B drill. I kept the rows at 7" also. Smaller seed need less lbs. per acre. I planted a soybean plot and I had the middle blocked off. Nice setting each side to it's own setting. I ran 70lbs. per acre on small seeds and 90lbs on larger seeds then ran two old crushers in tandem to pack it. Perfect! Soybeans are growing and looking nice too!

You probably don't want to use your VanBrunt because they don't have packer wheels, unless you have added them you will not get good seed-soil contact and will have poor germination and a poor stand, unless you make a second pass with a cultipacker and pack it down. When I plant beans I pull out the old JD 1240 and plunk em in and let the packing wheels make a nice seed bed, drag chains just don't cut it with beans.

Hi I think the levers you found are for the fertilizer adjustment. To change your seed droppage go to the back of the drill. There should be two levers (one for each halve of the drill). Email me with how many pounds per acre you want to plant and i will tell you what to set it at. What size drill do you have? I have a 13x7 and found another i might buy. Email me with any other questions I have a manual for reference. Good Luck.
Matt
