Ferguson Rake

Anyone ever heard of a Ferguson rake model D-EO-20? It is a side delivery, three point mounted, PTO driven (ground speed I assume) rake.

Are these things any good? Are parts available? What is a good price?

The thing looks very simple. No gear box, just the pto shaft turning a belt to the rake.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I've got one also. Can't remember if it's a 20 or 25. I've used it for 15 or so years, and did about 7 acres today. I really like it. It's nice to be able to pick it up. I trailer mine to a couple of fields. Just lift it up and pull onto the trailer. The only problem I've ever had was with the top link. If the field has large bumps after the tractor goes over the rake goes up putting a ton of stress on the top link.

Mine is actually a DE-O-25...same rake just a little bigger. I like it, but it's really old and worn. I got it for $125 and had to spend another $100 on a new driveshaft. So I would say it's probably worth about $150 if the driveshaft is there (mine wasn't....lessons learned). I'm still able to get replacement teeth from a local MF dealer. Several parts are interchangeable with the MF25 and MF36. Tom A also has one and he may have some comments later.

I have a DEO20, used it for the first time this AM. Worked pretty well behind my VAC. Parts are pretty easy to find (teeth), and I just replaced the belt from AGCO ($43). Fun to run. You other DEO owners, is there supposed to be a guard on the bottom of the belt in front of the bars over to the drive pulley? I did have a little trouble with wrapping on the drive pulley in real heavy alfalfa.

I just got through hooking up my rake and noticed that the belt guard is more of a trough than an "L". Here's a pic of the backside of the guard.

Yes, Todd, there should be a belt guard. Here's what mine looks like.

It's just a piece of sheetmetal bent in an "L" shape to cover the front and bottom sides of the lower belt travel area.

Jim, Thanks a lot that is exactly what I was looking for and I was just figuring out how to fabricate it. Your rake must be about 20 years newer than mine, Mine has the cast drive wheel, and the hitch bracing is flat iron. The steel drive wheel is probably much easier to change the belt on! Thanks again for your reply.

Yup - got one sitting out on the edge of the field waiting for me to get to repairing it. I'm told it's a pretty good rake, but got mine for free with some other implements I bought - needs a lot of work to get it working! So, can't comment much on it for now.

Watch for a reply from Jim from Utah. He uses one, and there are at least one or two others who have them and have posted here.
