I just looked at this baler used. Looked pretty good. Bale chamber has rusted some. Has anyone here had any experience with these balers. I have never seen or heard anyone having one. Do not want to buy something that will never work right. Thanks to all. David

New Idea also built for IH, who sold them as the 435, I think. Neighbor has an IH 445. It works OK. Knotters need a little more maintenance attention than NH or JD. Not worth as much as a New Holland or JD from early '80s, but will get the job done.

I thought the IH 435 and 445 were built by IH in Doncaster England ? ( I field tested a 445 for IH many years ago and I am sure it said made in England on it )

Could be. The ones sold in North America, however, were built by New Idea at Coldwater, Ohio.

The baler I tried for them was a 445 that had been fitted with Rasspe knotters in place of IH knotters,( and very good it was too )in fact later that year, the baler went into production, and was known as the 445D. However those clever people in Doncaster decided it was a good idea to quit building balers in UK, and they brought out a replacement range built by Vicons in Holland. These new balers were total and utter rubbish! and I think it spelled the end of IH baler production in Europe.
