I recently purchased the mower and need to know what type and weight of oil to put in
the gear box?
I want to change the oil.
Thanks
Chuck

#90 is OK. The oil usually leaks out the seal behind the flywheel. Grass gets wrapped up in there.
A word of wisdom.... Do NOT overtighten the bolts holding on the covers (top and rear bottom). I see many of those mowers where Mr. Armstrong broke all the ears off the covers by over tightening the bolts.

Most of these tend to change their own oil about once a year when they sit through the winter. Nothing to get it dirty in the case so just think it is a matter of keeping everything slick in there. Believe it does call for 90 wt oil but think 140 would work also.

Put 90 tranny oil or a little heavier if it leaks a little. Don,t know how much maybe a quart. Fill to plug chances are 60/40 that it,s the same oil that came in it. Have a gooden.
