I have baled 750-1000 bales of wheat straw for several years now and the only issue I have is the length will vary. I tried to set it for 36" bales and most are close, but some are a little short and some will be as much as 8" over. Any ideas, or is this normal? thanks

Could be windrows are a little uneven causing a large amount of straw to go in the same time it is tieing the bale. This will cause long and short bales. One bale will be long the next will be short as it has moved the trip arm a little farther than normal. Don,t make sense but this is what happens. And then on the lighter side could just be the green machine. Just JOKING those JD guy,s will get on me like stink on a skunk. Have a great day.

I don't know about your baler, but on the older NH balers there is a little fine/sharp toothed gear-like thing that travels up the bale length adjustment piece. When the teeth wear off smooth, as the baler goes over rough spots the adjustment slips, making bales of varying lenghts.
