I have spotted and old NH 65 for sale. Its in pretty bad shape, bottom of the pickup chamber is gone, but it has alot on new parts in the knoter area. His askin price was way to much. Now he has told me to make an offer. I did some compairison and they look very simular to my Ford 250. I have the parts manual for the 250. Anyone have #'s for the 65 and/or a way to cross them to see if they would do me any good? I know the needles are different and wouldn't do me any good. But with so much of this baler being obsolete it my be to my advantage to grab some knoter parts. If they'll work that is.

I have a brother-in-law that is a design engineer at Case New Holland. He is not a square baler engineer but he recently ran a query through that dept about Ford Balers for me. I had been given a needle from a 6600 series NH baler that was an absolute perfect match to my Ford needles so I asked him to find out who made the Ford Balers. The square bale engineers claim the Ford Balers were made by Long Manufacturing. Now that doesn't explain why my needles match, so maybe there were some like casting patterns floating around or maybe there was some collabaration between companies. If there was, maybe the knotters are the same, you might try taking a knife off of your Ford and see if it can be exchanged with the one you are looking at, or maybe clean the assembly off good and take a picture for reference. I have purchased some new knotter parts through the NH dealer and believe me, if those knotters are in working order and match yours, you are looking at several hundred dollars of parts. Good Luck and let us know what you learn.

Jeff
