Can anyone tell me how to time this 45. We think we have figured that it is out of time. Our book doesn't say a thing about timing. Also does anybody have any 45 parts laying around that they would want to get rid of. Thank You

Mike: Its been 43 years since I've looked at one of these. Not sure how well my memory will serve on this. Back at the knotters the shaft that comes from front of baler, then first drives the packing forks and on to drive the knotters. Is this done by bevel gears? I believe there are timing marks on those bevel gears. I am almost positive on this as I remember timing marks as I describe and the other balers I had were both New Holland and their knotters are chain drive. Check it out and kindly let me know what you find.

The 45 doesn't have any chains in the power train to the knotter, so what is there to time unless you had the front gear box apart? All the gears in the knotter are keyed. The only chains are to the pickup. If you did have the front gear box apart, I dunno how to time it; never had mine apart. Presumably there are alignment marks.
