Thanks for the info on the IH grain drill. Found a couple of photos here that looks a lot like mine. After further cleaning I found that the label also says "Made in Canada by IH McCormick" and another on the left side of the seed box says "Type M F F" and (I think) "12 x 7". That last bit would match the fact that the drill has 12 single-disk openers spaced 7 inches apart. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but the settings seem clear enough, now that I've gotten some of the mud and grime off them.

Mark L your welcome i have one it is a 16 -7 with fert. and grass seeder. I plant hybrid sudangrass with it use the grass seeder to plant this works good. About 12 pounds to acre they are fairly close on the amount they plant. If it is still there there is a chart under lid of big box or grain box. hope this helps.

Well, the chart is gone, but the setting quadrants are still readable. I gave it a dry run (no seeds) this afternoon and learned a bit about how to operate things. Unfortunately, it looks like the clutches which drive the chains are both stuck. The grass seeder chain runs whether the openers are up or down, and the main seeder chain doesn't run in either case. I saw some advice here earlier about using diesel fuel to un-gunk gears and chains, so I sprayed some on both the clutches and left them to soak. I'll try them again in a couple of days.
