I've destroyed the gearbox in my International 4 foot rotary cutter.

(1) Will I be able to find a replacement?
(2) Is it worth replacing or would I be better off buying a new cutter?

Thanks,
Dave Davis

I also have a 6' International rotary cutter made in Bethel Ohio. I too had trouble with the gear box. The seal on the verticle shaft went bad & inadvertantly drained the oil. The bottom bearing consepuently disintegrated & ruined the seal housing. I was able with the help of a machine shop to make a new bottom cover out of a piece of half inch steel plate with a double seal that fits right up against the old cover after it was cleaned up on a lathe. Instead of using oil this time I put a Mobil grease that was recommended in the gear box, figuring that it won't run out if there is a seal leak.
