Going to an auction tomorrow. There is a Hayliner 273 there and it doesn't look too bad, they say it's ready to bale. What's a fair price. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I bought a 273 about a month ago in western wisconsin for $950 at an auction. It was kept inside and is in good condition. It also has a thrower. The price will all depend on how many people are there to buy a bailer.

Just bought one in Kansas for $500. Needed a little work. Not much money spent on it, mostly time. Has supersweep pickup, no thrower.

Just sold a 269 nearly identical to the 273 for $900. This is the time of year everyone is looking for one. May pay a little more.

Have a 273 Real nice baler. Bought mine at auction 1 year ago to replace my 65 compact (now the back up). They said it hadnt had 10,000 bales through it.???any way it was in great shape and I bought it at auction for 1250.00. It baled last year about 1000 bales then started missing. I just put about 225.00 in new bill hooks and knive arms. which is basic wear items. Just so you know.

Bill Hooks about 45.00 each
needles about 125.00 each
knive arms that swing and cut twin 45.00 each
the bushing on the arm is usually all you need to replace unless your knifes are worn but the bronze bushings are 7.00 a piece.
Good luck and if you get it Order the parts, shop, operators manuels. worth their weight in gold.

Last year, here in upstate New York, I got a 273, with 2 good wooden kicker wagons for $2500 for all. My 273 also has a kicker.

Around here they go for from about $1500 to as much as $3000, depending on condition. Mine had been kept in a barn and only needed new knives, one set of fingers and some minor adjustments. Mine also came with extra knotters.

I bought my first baler for 100 but it was a rusty piece of junk but it bales good now 800 dollars later if it bales pretty try 500 to 1000 depending on your budget
