For the past month or so I have been looking for info on the drill that I have. I have not had very good luck, so maybe this will help. I have a John Deere - Van Brunt spring pressure broadcast seeder. Wooden wheels, boxes and lids. It has been kept in the back of the shed for years and is in excelent condition. Rediscovered it while moving. The lettering on the front of the box has all sorts things written on it including serial number 447245, but no model number. On the underside of the box lid is the original paper for the seed settings. I'd like to find the year and model number. Maybe early 1930's. I'd be interested in what the rough value of it is. I have not seen any pictures of others, so I'd like to see some of those too. Maybe I'll start my own collection or sell it to someone, to add to their's. Pictures can be seen in the Help Identify forum on this same website. Looking foreward to hearing from you.

I am confused. You say a "broadcast seeder" which is not a description I would use to describe a grain drill. Please carify.

You are probably correct. If you look on the comments under the "Help Identify" gallery, on this same webpage, you will see some pictures of the drill, as well as a description from someone that calls it a broadcast seeder. I don't know, but am sure interested in discovering what I really have.
Thanks.

John Deere couldn't make a good drill, so they purchased Van Brunt who made a fine drill. I have a 1946 but it has rubber tires so yours has to be older. I paid $150.00 for mine (also in excellent condition) and then paid $152.00 for new seed tubes.
