I recently tried to mow with my 1957 cub lowboy. The problem is when I start to cut the belt comes off. I made a guard for the belt. Now the belt stays on but the engine dies. Seems to be a lack of power. Can anyone HELP me !!!!! !!!!! !!!!!

How tall and thick of grass you mowing?? Cubs are a bit under powered for heavy mowing! I was looking to buy one a church here had fore sale. I mowed some of their grass with it, and could see it was underpowered in tougher grass. If the grass is short and easily cut, i'd look to see if you have a berring heating up and seizing the mower up. Robert

Check belt and pulley alignment. Check spindles to make sure all of them turn freely. Sounds like it could be a bent spindle.
