I just bought a nh 273 bailer with a thrower that looks to be in excellent condition. I would like to know the good and bad points of this bailer anything I should watch for. thanks.

Best bailer I ever owned. A very good unit. No bad points. Grease every day and the knotters twice a day, but not too much each time. Make good hand ties between twine balls and you should be trouble free.
Wise choice
Good Luck.

I usually ask those questions before I buy something. Just kidding.

That's a good reliable baler, just slower than the newer ones. Make sure you get an owner's manual and be sure it is properly timed before you feed hay into it.

Can I ask how much you paid? I just got one with super sweep pickup and no thrower for $500. It has spent many years sitting outside, and needed some work, but now seems to work good.

I paid $950 for it. I looks like it was never stored outside the parts on the inside have no rust and are shiney and the paint is still in good shape. it had a couple of newer looking bales in it that look like they are tied correctly. It was on an consignment auction so I did't have a chance to find out anything about it before I bought it.
