Needs some tips on getting the knotters to work good.
This is the 1st time I am running this baler after rebuilding it. What I have tried to do so far is to thread the twine and get it loaded into the knotters.
I am using 9000 twine. This stuff does not seem to me any way, to be of good quality.
I thread the baler and the twine seems to catch and grab. It is real hard to pull through the needles. The 1st time I threaded it. The twine broke as the needles fed it to the knotters.
I losened the tension clip some but it seems to be dragging hard coming out of the ball.

I pulled some slack and rethreaded the needles and it did load the knotters this time.
I then tripped the knotters and ran it through a knotter cycle and got a mess in both knotters.
The right knotter wrapped around the bill hook and did not realease.
The left one got all jamed up in the twine holder and wrapped around some of the gears.
It seems I have a few problems to fix. And I know nothing about knotters. or the proper way to test them. I do have the manual so that helps some but its hard to make out what they are saying and the photos are at a different angle and fuzzy.
I guess I will 1st try a different ball of twine and losen the tension clip some more.

Should I be able to just pull the twine through the needles with out any binding? I broke the twine twice just trying to tye it off on the axle to load the knotters.

After I get that part working. Should I be able to just trip the knotters and run it through a cycle by hand and get a good knot to look at. or do I need to be running hay in it?
Thats enough for now. I know most of it is that I have never done it before so I keep thinking I and doing some thing wrong so its hard to know if it needs fixin.

Just like adam said. You can only trip the knotters once without hay. The hay moving through is what pulls the knot tight and pulls it out of the bill hook.

I had similar trouble with my NH275 and the answer was that I had missed threading two of the ceramic eyelets that were located just forward of where the needles enter the bale chamber and inback of a metal shield. Good luck.

kelly get new twine,, then go down from where the twine comes out of the box, through the "insulators" to the needles, and tie it off on the frame of the baler...I may have missed a step but you get the idea,,email me if ya have any more trouble,,I use a super 68 too,,,Jim

unthread the whole system, clean up the mess, get all the twine out. get good quality twine like from a equip dealer. rethread the twine properly, a manual helps here, after it is rethreaded, run the baler through a trip cycle, then you will have to run hay through the baler. to continue to trip the needles without hay going through the baler will cause the mess you discribed. hay going through will pull the string through the needles, and if the wiper arms are adjusted right, will pull the knots off the billhooks. also make sure the hay dogs are free and working properly. you have a good baler there, take time to figure it out, check it over, understand whats going on, and it will bale all the hay you want. good luck.
