I have a 479 that when I let the header down to cut the header goes into ground and causes the bolt connecting cutter bar to wobble box to shear.I have the shoes raised up but the header seems to tip forward and hit the ground. I would appreciate any help. Bill

Hey Bill,
You say you have the skid shoes all the way down?
That could possibly cause a tilting action forcing the sickle side down, try raising them back up. I have run a 469 and a 488 that I have had and never had that problem with either. I don't have the information handy right now on adjusting the tension on the header float springs but I will look it up in a little bit and email it too you. I think you may have a off balance problem caused by the skid shoes though, of course I could be full of it too????

Check if the springs supporting the header are out of adjustment or broken. Sounds like they are not working properly.
