John deere #4 plow questions

my name is ben zahn iam 15 and i have just pulled a john deere #4 2 bottom plow out of a tree line and it is fairly good lookin it needs new moldboards,2 steel spoke rims and some other missalanious parts. i am asking anyone what their experience was with this plow did they like them what is a reasonably price for it (I am planning on keeping it but would like to know what a price on 1 would be) are parts hard to find are these plows faily common if anyone has a pic can u please email it to me or send a response with the pic included in it.

You may want to look for complete bottoms it will be easier than individual parts. What width are the bottoms? John deere used the same bolt pattern on all bottoms until they went metric, so a set of high speed bottoms would bolt on and be easy to get parts for if you want to play with it.

I think the #4 is a good plow. Sounds like most of the parts need replacing though. You might be best off to check salvage yards for the parts you can get. JD doesn't have much of anything for them even shares or bottom parts. Some aftermarked places might be able to supply them. Price varies depending upon the part of the country. I would suspect if you put on moundboards and wheels you will have far more into it than you could ever get out, but then that isn't what most of us look at anyway rather it is taking an old tractor or piece of equipment, long neglected, and making it work again. Good luck on it, the skills you will gain from fixing it up will be priceless
