More Woods mower questions

I have an L59 woods belly mower on my AC model B. I just put new blades on it and like an idiot I didn't pay enough attention when taking the belt off. There is one belt and three drive pulleys on the deck. At the rear of the tractor are two adjusting pulleys and the PTO drive pulley. There is a belt routing diagram on the deck and I followed it about 50 times. Question - I'm assuming that when the belt is on correctly I should have only one complete twist in the belt. Everytime I try to install the belt I get 2 twists. Does anyone have any helpful advice?

Thanks,

Eric

mine has a 1/2 twist between the two back pulleys that are stacked on top of each other, and 1 1/2 on the far right run as you look from behind the deck. I do it without thinking so let me see if I can find my manual. Is that the 60 inch Woods belt on that deck?

Yes, it's a Woods belt but I think it may be the wrong belt. The model number on mine is Woods 3652. According to a web site the belt for an L59 should be 4152. I haven't called the dealer yet. The belt is super tight and the adjusting pulleys are maxed out at the top. I think the belt is just a bit too short.

Thanks,

Eric

Before you spend the $75 + on a Woods belt I found the NAPA truck belt B255 to work just fine at almost half the cost. I moved the lower rear pulley to make it fit and it works great. Got tired of breaking belts and for the money I always keep one on the shelf. Make sure the width and depth specs from the NAPA belt match yours. The length may even be a little longer which sounds like it might work for you. Hope that helps

Thanks for the tip about the NAPA truck belt, I'll remember that in the future. I just put a new belt on my L59 on an Allis-Chalmers B. The belt is not too short, but I also get confused about where the twists go. The routing decal is half gone. I assume that the so-called "tight" side goes on the right with a left-side throw mower, and I also assume that "tight" means three-quarters of a twist, and "loose" means one-quarter. Also have to have the half-twist between the upper and lower rear pulleys as mentioned. But does the left side entry point of the belt to the center triple pulley go on the bottom groove of the pulley? Trial and error is all I can do.
