Missing page from manual, J.D. Van Brunt FB grain drill

I have a Jonh Deere reprint manual for my Van Brunt FB 17 X 7 grain drill. The service section (pages)for the feed shaft and feed cups refer to page 57 for instructions on how to turn the drill upside down to make it easier to work on. My manual from the J.D. Press stops at page 56.

Some of the other page references don't correlate with the page given. This book is 8 1/2" X 11" and I imagine the origionals were of the smaller type.

If anyone knows the procedure or has the "missing page" I'd appreciate any help.

I have to replace all 17 of the feed gates, they all disappeared (rust).

Thanks in advance.

Milan

Hey Milan, Are you talking about the small flap gates below the feeds in the bottom of the seed box? I have a JD Van Brunt and have changed the flaps out on mine without having to turn anything over??? I have never heard of that but it could happen I guess. I just used a punch to remover the pin and then drove the new pins through the new flaps. If this is the same part we are both talking about its not a hard job, time consuming and it is a little hard to get to a few of them but not too bad. Holler at me and we can talk more about it. I'll also look up my owners manual and see what it says. Don't know if its going to be the same model but should be similar. Gary

Thanks, yes we're on the same page.

Mine rusted out so bad, I can't even tell where the pin went through the feed cup to hold the gate in. The service guy at the J.D. dealer said to go easy on 'em, they're cast and too much heat will make them brittle. Don't want to put any more money into than I have to .... LOL :-)

I figure turning it upside down will let me get up close and not have to be in a aquard position to work on them.
