I have a 20' camper and I can't seem to make tires last more than 2 years. I need P175/75R13. I am looking for at least a 6 ply, and an 8 ply would be better. I am thinking some implement tires might fall in this category. Any ideas who might make what I need?

Thanks

In what way are the tires giving out?

Is the tread worn away during the usage of two years? If so, how far are you pulling the trailer yearly?

Are the tires failing structrually? Is the trailer loaded too heavily?

Is the axle bent making the tires out of alignment to eat away the tread?

I went to my local Discount Tire and gave them a description of my trailer and needs. I wound up getting a pretty good deal on a set of 8 ply high temp, high stress tires used on construction trailers for hauling big equipment--doziers and such. And discount tire mounted them for me when I took the trailer down there. Very friendly folks, and a pretty good price through their distributor. stephen

What is this, like a pop-up camper or small travel trailer? Why don't you look at some boat trailer tires, and maybe moving up to a larger size or even 14" rim if it fits and clears everything. You can get these in load range C, or even D on some 14". You can get good deals on tire/rim packages at discount marine or trailer supply places. If it's a trailer you don't need the P redials, you can use ST trailer service tires, either radial or bias. Do a Google search on "boat trailer tires", there are dozens of places on the web with a lot of information. I think you can forget about farm implement tires, they are not for high speed highway use.

Tanklord, Take a look at airplane tires! I have a set on the front of my 966 IH. They are 200 MPH rated, And 20 ply tires they might get a little rough but I dont think you will have any to worry about flats, or wearout for at least 6 to 8 yrs. Mine have been on since 1996 just this year will I replace. They can be gotten from a place in Houston, TX . New Wheel, tire for my 966 is about $125. each. Check your Fastline mag for name and 800 #. Or e-mail me later!
Good Luck,
John A.

Tanklord 1-800-NO-FLATS is the number for the Houston bunch and the airplane tires do really good on a trailer.

If you only inflate them to 20lbs or so they ride smooth enuff and are stable.

If by implement tires you mean farm implement, don't do it; they are for low speed use (25 MPH max generally) only. If there's a dealer in antique foreign cars nearby, he can probably help.....think maybe the older Morris Mini or MG uses something similar.
