Why is it that machinery manufactorers feel the need to put a bearing where you have to disassemble the whole machine, or cut a frame member, to replace it? Getting my balers ready for hay season and noticed a seal out of a bearing on my JD 336. Bearing is on the the crank driven off the plunger which drives the pickup. Can't get the shaft out for the main gear box, and the housing is welded in place. Don't need help getting it out, just wanted to vent. :-)

Designers, and engineers and architects plan and design a machine for an assembly line, so in its assembly the position of a shaft or seal works out fine as the next process on the line can take place, they don't really plan disassembly for repair....if some of them had to repair autos or tractors and machinery I'm sure the approach would be different...was working on a Toyota auto one day and the alternator was bad...have to take the front wheel and lower arm off to get the alternator out of the bottom end of the engine...about three hours to change an alternator, wish the engineers were there that day.....
